ESO Mythos in Review: The Mages Guild

Mages Guild ESOIn this guest article Gedalya from Tamriel.org will be discussing the Mages Guild.

He will do so both through an examination of Elder Scrolls (ES) games prior to the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), as well as ESO itself. Pre-ESO games and accompanying in-game literature we will call lore; we will also refer to in-game literature in ESO as lore. The goal is to provide a breadth first review of the Mages Guild and it’s members with a juxtaposition of the Guild’s representation in ESO and in lore.

The Mages Guild has featured since the first Elder Scrolls video game; The Elder Scrolls: Arena. The Guild is reprsented throughout Tamriel, with guild halls well represented in Major cities of the Empire. Headquartered in the Imperial City is the heart of the Guild, the Arcane University. The guild is lead by an Arch-Mage and a Council of Mages. Other comparable institutions include the College of Winterhold in Skyrim, which predates the Guild.

ESO Patch Notes v1.5.3

ESO patch notesOVERVIEW

The Elder Scrolls Online v1.5.3 fixes a number of issues that appeared after Update 5 was published. This includes issues within combat, crafting writs, dungeons, UI, and more. We have also increased the amount of XP you receive from lower-level monsters, which should alleviate the feeling of slow leveling within Veteran Ranks. We are aware that there are still issues surrounding the LFG tool, and are still working on a fix for this.

ESO patch notes
So… v1.5 is finally here and the patch notes are massive.

OVERVIEW

Welcome to The Elder Scrolls Online v1.5.2, our fifth major content update! We have many new features in store for you.

In this update, we’ve added Veteran City of Ash, the continuation of the dungeon City of Ash, and implemented our improved facial animations so NPCs will look more realistic when you speak to them. We’ve also implemented the next phase of the Veteran Rank improvements, which you can read more about below.

We’re introducing both dungeon scaling and solo-instance scaling in this update so you can go back and revisit some of your favorite dungeons, and have also implemented new Undaunted Enclaves and Pledges that you can perform every 20 hours.

Crafters have a lot to look forward to as well! You’ll be able to undertake certification, as well as crafting writs and survey reports once you’re certified. You’ll want to read more about this further down. In addition, we’ve added the Dwemer crafting style, and Twice-Born Star item set.

Last but certainly not least, you can check out our new chat bubbles, still in Beta form, but you’ll have to enable them first in the Settings menu.

In addition to all the new features, we’ve gone through and polished the game to address many issues with regards to combat, gameplay, dungeons, quests, and more.

First Look at Justice System in ESO

eso justice systemESO Guild Summit revealed some more interesting information about the upcoming Justice System.

The Justice System will be a huge addition to Elder Scrolls Online, and it will drastically change the world and the way you and the players around you play the game. It adds a whole new level of player-driven content, and makes your actions have real impact on the world, much like stealing or killing in a single player Elder Scrolls game would. Except ESO is an MMO, and you will not only have to worry about NPCs but your fellow players also.

That’s right, players can either enforce the law or choose to break it. If you do choose to steal and murder, just be aware that there are players out there who will make it their goal to bring justice to Tamriel and hunt you down.
